  • Alise Gaiser, a proud mother of two, was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. Her curiosity and determination to dig deeper have shaped her career as a healthcare provider. While she strongly believes in evidence-based care, Alises passion lies in taking it a step further by educating and empowering her patients to make informed decisions, particularly in the areas of womens health and mental health.

Alise holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Brandon University and earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Manitoba. She completed her Family Medicine residency in Brandon, through the University of Manitoba's Family Medicine Residency Program, and now serves as a primary preceptor for both family medicine residents and medical students - something she takes great pride in.

Alise's personal experiences have played a significant role in her journey. Early in her career, she struggled with burnout and later with postpartum anxiety, which she eventually discovered was linked to undiagnosed ADHD. The lack of wrap-around services and holistic resources available during these challenges motivated her to co-found The Wellness Clinic - a space where patients could receive the comprehensive care and support they need.

Her vision centers around providing holistic, interdisciplinary care that addresses not only physical health but also the mental and emotional well-being of her patients.

She then pursued her Doctor of Medicine degree at St. Martinus University and completed her family medicine residency in Brandon. Known for her laid-back demeanor and easygoing nature, Dr. Misko excels at putting her patients at ease. Her empathetic approach ensures that everyone feels heard and cared for, allowing for a supportive environment that fosters open communication.

I hold current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.

I have developed a keen interest in women’s health after having my three children, and am furthering my education in the area of Perinatal Mood Disorders with Postpartum Support International.

I believe in forming non judgemental, therapeutic relationships with clients through open communication and mutual respect and am excited to be a part of the amazing team here at the Wellness Clinic!

  • My name is Candace Little.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Manitoba in 2009. I currently practice in the areas of Women’s Health and Pediatric physiotherapy including pediatric pelvic health. I have been lucky enough to experience working in both the Southern and Northern areas of Manitoba and have experience with clients aged 0-100. I have worked with pediatric clients since 2011 and gained an interest in both women’s health and pediatric pelvic health following the birth of my own 3 children.

All 3 children brought a different pregnancy and birthing experience which has provided me with first-hand knowledge of issues surrounding pre, peri, and post-natal health including both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, as well as the gaps in education and preparation for this major event. In 2018, I was fortunate enough to begin my pelvic health journey and my interest has only grown since. My love for pediatrics has led me to further my knowledge of pediatric pelvic health including persistent bedwetting as well as bowel and bladder dysfunction.

I hope to expand my knowledge in the future to include pelvic health for those who have experienced trauma, trans and gender diverse clients, as well as physiotherapy intervention for breastfeeding-related conditions.

Pelvic floor treatment for women will include an intake questionnaire to better understand your pelvic floor dysfunction and goals for treatment, a discussion with your physiotherapist about the questionnaire, and a physical exam to look at body movement, and breathing. This may include an internal exam. Pediatric pelvic floor appointments will include an intake questionnaire and detailed history-taking with treatment focused on the goals identified. Pediatric intervention (unrelated to the pelvic floor) will include a detailed interview to determine physiotherapy goals and treatment.

  • Hello, I am Meagan Maksuta. I am excited to join the team at The Wellness Clinic.

I graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy. I have ten years of experience working with a variety of clientele at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. My passion is Neurological and Geriatric Rehabilitation. I am experienced at completing home assessments with complex clients to ensure a sustainable plan. I have additional training in Fall Prevention, NDT (neurodevelopment treatment) and LSVT BIG Therapy (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) for Parkinson’s Disease.

Often facing barriers in the public health care system, I am excited to offer therapy in client’s homes to address the critical gaps in care. Too often, older adults suffer a disabling fall that could have prevented with a physiotherapy assessment and environmental modifications. Additionally, patients have been required to remain in hospital for access to proper rehabilitation. I believe these gaps can be filled with home physiotherapy, allowing adults to successfully age in place and live their lives to the fullest.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors camping, hiking, running or just chasing my kids around the park. I find all aspects of life more enjoyable when served with coffee.

  • My name is Kim.

I have a keen interest in neurodevelopment, cognition, sensory processing and self-regulating within the context of neurodivergence and complex trauma.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Winnipeg in 2011 and Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of Manitoba in 2013. Since graduating, I have worked in a large variety of practice settings (hospital inpatients, outpatients, community) including both physical and mental health conditions across the lifespan.

The bulk of my experience has been supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental or psychiatric conditions – including (but not limited to): ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety/Depression, PTSD, and complex trauma.  Many individuals with difficulties in self-regulating struggle to participate in simple tasks of daily life– such as bathing, using the toilet, sleeping, eating and socializing. This often has to do with our ability to intentionally shift between functional nervous system states – skills that are largely developed during the first several years of life.

The focus of assessment and intervention planning would be to investigate how the environment, the task, and the individual’s neurological stress response interact together. Strategies can be helpful for individuals at any age, however, at this time my focus will be regarding pre-school age children. My services would be beneficial for children 6 and under experiencing any of the following:

    -difficulties potty training

-resistance to transition to solid foods

    -difficulties falling asleep

-difficulties with sharing or playing with others

-difficulties transitioning from one activity to another

-avoidance of certain sounds, light, or busy environments

-difficulties sitting still or paying attention

  • Hello, My name is Cristy Dourado and I was born and raised in Northern Manitoba. I carry these small town values with me everyday, the values of hard work, sense of community where everyone has a seat at the table and my personal value that everyone is entitled to feel at their best self and thrive to a greater wellness. I have been a foster parent for the last fifteen years, and proudly received Guardianship of our Indigenous children. We also have three boys who keep us on our toes and our family is centered on kindness and laughter always.

I am honoured and grateful to follow two groundbreaking, innovative, trail blazers that are prioritizing holistic health in an accessible and safe place. It's a privilege to stand beside my esteemed colleagues to serve our community and get better together.

My whole life has been a record of being drawn into the helping fields. This included being a camp counselor in my summers, volunteering at our personal care home feeding and playing cards with the elderly, working with young children that needed extra support as well as youth that had complex mental health issues until I graduated with my Psychiatric Nursing Degree. It is within that academic scope that I have had the opportunity to build my professional skills for the last thirteen years in the private, non profit and acute government sectors whether these were individual sessions, group sessions or being a trainer for staff, with the ultimate goal of helping children and adults get unstuck and moving forward towards their imagined life. I did this together with my clients as I quickly understood that the currency of trustworthiness, being non judgemental, respectfulness at all times, being a present and listening in ways that matter to people, and using shared communication that could be life changing for people in places and spaces they needed the confidence and skills to feel safe and build a better self.

I believe in being genuine, using a relationship based approach and firmly believe in a client's ability to get better on their own terms. All this becomes a powerful catalyst and motivator for meaningful and desired change.

Take a chance on yourself and walk through the door.
